I use my past to power my future, and my regrets as fuel for my dreams!
It is so easy to sit back and dwell on the past. To think that if you could do it all over that this time it would be very different. I, like everyone else in this world have regrets. Sometimes I wish that I had it to do all over. I think the thing that a lot of people don't realize is that past that you think about, and those regrets that you have are the very things that made you into the person that you are today.
Every time I get down on things that I missed or have given up in the past, I start to remember the things that I gained during that same time. In economics they teach you a term called Opportunity Cost. Simply put opportunity cost means that in order to get something you have to give something, you can't always do it all. Its like giving up a Saturday to work, you miss out on some sleep but in exchange you get extra money in your pocket. If you had went to an University out of state you could have had more fun or lived in a tropical location but chances are you may not have met that close friend, wife, or husband at the in-state college you attended. We see life how it is now and think that if we changed something in your past it would have a ton of benefit, but sometimes the benefit you would have possibly gained would not be as much as what you have gotten because of the opportunity you missed. What I say is, be grateful for your past and use it to help make a better future. Learn from mistakes and use them to help you make better decisions today. So when you start to think of what you would have changed remember what you have and what you would potentially be giving up.
