Treat school as if it were work, and work as if it were school.
My second time going to school I realized the harder I worked there, the more I would be able to learn. Before, I felt like reading for class was optional and I was always able to get by doing the bare minimum. The second time I treated all assignments like a boss had given it to me to complete and that I would not get paid until I had done it. Treating it like a job gave school more of a purpose and made it seem less like a chore. I feel that is the thing that really helped me to excel the second time around. Having a set time that I worked on projects and reading was like my 9-5 , more like 8pm-3am. Although school didn't pay at the time, it did provide me with the knowledge that landed me a job just in time to start paying off my student loans. Funny how that works.
Remember that saying "You never stop learning." Even the most repetitive job has lessons for you to learn. Doing something repeatedly, you start to find shortcuts and tricks that the typical person probably wouldn't know. That makes you better and faster at that task. If you pay attention and are open to learning in the workplace, you can make yourself very valuable. You can make yourself so valuable that when it is time for people to get let go, you will be so valuable that getting rid of you would cost more than the financial gain that they would get from getting rid of your salary. Also if you do happen to get let go, you will know enough to go out on your own or find another job where your true worth can shine through. Never Stop Learning!
