Doddsism #135

Doddsism #135 | Just because they call you something doesn't mean you are that something.

Have you ever received a letter that you didn't want and instead of keeping it you marked it return to sender? Words can be the same way. People can say all sorts of negative things about you but just because they say it does not mean you have to accept it. Just like that letter, you can send it back.

You can't control what people say about you, but you do have the power to decide if those words are true. That old saying about sticks and stones is not totally true because sometimes words do hurt. Words are powerful, but you don't have to give them power over you. Just because someone says something negative about you doesn't make it true. You don't have to accept any negativity that someone else wants to place on you. Knowing yourself is so important because it better equips you to reject negativity. If you know that you are smart it doesn't matter how many times someone else calls you stupid because you already know that you're smart. The same principle is true about positivity. People can tell you how smart or beautiful you are but until  you except those words they won't mean as much. It seems that it is easier for people to accept the negative words that are being said then it is for them to accept the positive ones. We can start to reverse that trend today. You don't have to accept those words of hate that people may try to place on you. Reject those words and instead accept the words of kindness and love that others give you. You can do it, keep the love and deny the hate.
